As the year drew to a close (RIP 2017), I began to think about the past year. As a girl with problem skin, I try to be very conscientious about what I am putting on my face and if those products are working for me. After years and years of struggling with products and trying to piece together what will make all those nasty bumps on my face disappear, it seems like 2017 was the year that I finally began the process of really getting my face under control. I am extremely happy with my skincare, hair, and makeup routines (all of which will be covered in separate blogs). Therefore, I looked through my daily routines to find my absolute holy grail products from the last year, which I will now share with you here!
IT Cosmetics CC+ Your Skin But Better Cream
When I say that I love this product, I mean that I love this product. I have worn various BB creams over the years in attempt to find the perfect balance of coverage and lightweight feel. As a girl that only likes to wear foundation for special occasions, I was searching far and wide for the perfect combination. Most formulas either didn’t have enough coverage or three hours later it felt like it was dripping off my face. I’m not a super oily-skinned girl, so this problem was especially concerning for me. Anyways, all my BB/CC cream problems were solved with this product! The coverage is just enough that you don’t have to pile on the concealer after, still without being as heavy as foundation. The product stays throughout the day and doesn’t make my face feel like there’s been a massive oil spill on my chin and forehead. I will continue to buy this product and highly recommend that if you’re searching for the perfect CC cream, try this one out ASAP!

NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer
As a long-time fan of the creamy radiance concealer, I had to try this product out as soon as I saw it. Let me tell you, it was quite possibly the best purchase I’ve ever made. The coverage is AMAZING while still seamlessly blending into pores/skin. It seriously looks like you’re not even wearing concealer. It’s that good. I’ve been through two or three pots and I will never go back to another concealer. The only downside is that it’s a pot, but it’s barely an inconvenience when you compare it to the product. Works just as well on under eyes and eyelids as it does on problem spots. I tell everyone about this concealer and make sure that they know it is well worth the small investment. If you follow me on instagram then you’ll know that I’ve said this before, but I’ll say it again – I will never buy another concealer. This is the only one I need and want thank you.
Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer is available for purchase at Sephora/Ulta for $30.00
IT Cosmetics Hello Lashes Concealer
I actually stumbled upon this mascara by accident. I had just run out of my Better Than Sex mascara and was in dire need of a new one – conveniently right around Black Friday. So, I made a trip specifically to Ulta and braved the crowds on Black Friday to pick up one of the mascaras they had on sale for $10. I think that I actually had my eyes on a Tarte one, but by the time that I got to my local Ulta (at a ridiculously early time), all of the mascaras had been sold except for Hello Lashes. Even though I was a bit put off by the fact that there was many of these left and all the other kinds had been sold out, I thought that it was $10, I would give it a try. Well, it ended up being a very happy accident! My short, brownish lashes become insanely long and black. The formula and wand team up to bring a crazy amount of volume, length, and drama. I love my stubby lashes now and will definitely buy this mascara again!
IT Cosmetics Hello Lashes Mascara is available at Ulta for $24.00
Benefit Cheek Parade Palette
When I saw this palette, it felt like the stars aligned for me. I went into Sephora to buy another Hoola Bronzer and a Galifornia Blush. As I was contemplating Hoola or Hoola Lite, this beauty caught my eye. Sure, the price scared me momentarily, but after quickly doing some mental math, I realized I would be losing out without this palette. I was about to purchase two products at $30 each, but here was this palette, containing all three of the products I wanted to buy, at a mere $68. It was too good of a deal to pass up. I do not regret purchasing this palette at all, in fact, I use it everyday. I mix the Hoola and the Hoola Lite to create the perfect color for my pasty skin. Not to mention, Dandelion and Rockateer are both lovely shades as well! In conclusion, you get five beautiful shades in one palette, almost for the price of purchasing two separately!
Benefit Cheek Parade Palette is no longer available online
Tartelette Toasted Palette
I spent a long time eyeing up this palette before ultimately receiving it as a Christmas gift. This palette is super warm and cozy, while still being versatile and neutral enough for daily use. The combination of the browns, golds, and maroons make for a lovely mix that make me want to curl up by the fireside. The amount of looks I have already created from this palette is incredible – and I haven’t even experimented with all the shades yet! The shimmer shades do require a bit of packing on, but it is definitely worth the extra second. Very minimal fallout and a buildable pigment. If you’re looking for a warm palette without fully committing to reds, I recommend this one to start out!
Tartelette Toasted Palette is available at Sephora/Ulta for $46.00
Morphe Bronzed Mocha Palette
I purchased this palette on a whim at Ulta one day. I just couldn’t say no to the beautiful array of neutral hues – all for the small price of $18. The value of this palette is incredible and you get WAY more than you pay for! That’s the beauty of Morphe though. Each shade is gorgeously hued and compatible with each other. The pigment in this palette is INSANE. I was not used to being able to tap my brush once and get the desired amount of product! This palette is perfect for every day use and can be packed on for more drama! If you’re looking for a versatile palette with lots of shades without breaking the bank, you just found your match.
Morphe Bronzed Mocha palette is available at morphebrushes.com or Ulta for $18.00
Mario Badescu Rosewater Spray
I have had this spray for a very long time, and even though I heard all the hype about it, I forgot to try it out. That was a huge mistake! The moisturizing power of this spray is out of this world. I never expected it to work as well as it does! I prep my skin with this spray before I do my makeup and my base goes on so smoothly after this! I also use it to set my makeup like the bottle suggested and though I do have to spot a bit of powder on the spots I sprayed too much, my makeup does actually seem to last longer with this spray. Honestly, this is one product that I can say actually lives up to its hype!
Mario Badescu Rosewater Spray is available at Ulta for $12.00
The Body Shop Tea Tree Toner
In past years, I have used tea tree oil on my problem spots. I did notice a difference back then, and I notice it now! After using this toner for weeks twice a day, it is clear that my pimples are smaller, less frequent, and clear up way quicker than before. My complexion also actually seemed to brighten a little bit! I was scared that the tea tree would dry out my face when used all over, but this product has done the opposite! I almost never flake now and I am getting more and more confident with my skin everyday.
The Body Shop Tea Tree Toner is available at Ulta for $14.00
Nivea Soft Moisturizing Creme
Boy, was my skin a dry, flaky mess before this moisturizer! Seriously, this lotion saved my skin. I was embarrassed to wear the makeup I wanted to wear because foundation just seemed to stick to my abundant dry spots and make the flaking even more noticeable! It only took a few days for this lotion to work it’s magic – and that’s why this is the number one thing I tell my friends and family to buy if they’re struggling with dry skin in the winter! I can also double up and use this stuff on my knees and elbows if I’m especially dry. I can’t thank this moisturizer enough!
Nivea Soft Moisturizing Creme is available at most drugstores for about $7.00
Ouai Hair Oil
The one product that made it into my haircare favorites – Ouai hair oil. I bought this after watching one of Zoella’s favorites videos, and I will never look back. My hair is extremely soft and my split ends are much less visible after using this. I use it when my hair is damp, but I can pop it onto my dry hair too if I forgot! Seriously, this hair oil saved my split ends, and I’m usually not one to hype up any hair oils because I feel like they all do about the same job. This stands out from the collection of hair oils I have and I promise it will for you too!
Ouai Hair Oil is available for purchase at Sephora for $28.00
