Winter Lookbook; Staying Cozy & Stylish

Listen, I get it. When the temperatures are dropping near zero (and sometimes below), the motivation to dress well is low. I’m not suggesting abandoning your tempting sweatshirt collection, everyone has days where you need to wear an oversized, hooded sweatshirt. Luckily, we’re living in 2018, where sweatsuit-meets-fashion is trendy and accepted into everyday wear. Even Champion hoodies are stylish! Who would’ve guessed that back in 2010?

However, one thing that I’ve learned is that while a hoodie is a very good cozy option, there are countless amounts of other wear that is pretty and just as comfortable as your favorite sweatshirt from four years ago! One item that is absolutely essential to me during the winter is a good oversized sweater. What’s better than a top that combines the comfort of a blanket and chicness? In my book-nothing!

For my Winter Lookbook, I put together three of my go-to outfits. Two of the outfits feature a pair of boots from Charlotte Russe that I have practically showered and slept in this winter. I love them so much that they scuffed and battered but I refuse to ever let them go. Unfortunately, they are no longer available, so I can’t pick up a pair in every color:(. The one thing that all the outfits have in common is a cute, oversized sweater! I wasn’t kidding, I live in them during the cold months (basically October – March).

Enough of me talking, let’s get to the outfits!

Look #1: The Teddy Coat Outfit

This outfit might just be my favorite! First of all, I am loving the teddy coat trend so much! Not only are they adorable, but they’re super warm and cozy also. I swear that this teddy coat keeps me warmer than my parka.

I got my coat on sale at H&M and it was the best purchase I’ve ever made. Not only does the tan look good with other neutral colors, but it also works beautifully with grays and blacks. It takes an outfit from simple to trendy with literally no effort. I’ve seen bloggers wear sportswear underneath their teddy coat and all of a sudden it’s not a gym outfit, but a look. Both a versatile piece and a statement piece, a teddy coat is one necessity for the winter months – and you don’t even have to splash out to get it! The coat I’m wearing is sold out online but I will link a similar coat.

For the rest of the look, I am wearing a H&M sweater, American Eagle jeans, and Charlotte Russe booties. The sweater has a wide forearm and then a tighter wrist, so sort of a half balloon sleeve (which I am also loving). The material is SO soft and the sweater was a steal at only around $30! My favorite feature is the mock-turtleneck because I’ve discovered them to be flattering on me.

The jeans from AE are years old, but they don’t show their wear. They hug my body just right and are definitely my go-to pair of low rise jeans. Unfortunately, they are no longer available due to their age, but I will link a similar pair that will give the desired effect as these. I already talked about my boots, but I just need to talk about how much I love them again. I wear them all the time and they have held up spectacularly well for getting so much use. My sister even wears them frequently and they’re still kicking! Again, no longer available but I will find a similar pair.

Outfit #2: Fair Isle Forever

Okay, the name of this outfit is kind of a joke, but in all seriousness I really love fair isle. Not only is it festive during December, but it’s also great throughout the winter. My winter bedspread is fair isle and I love it! The coat I would probably wear with this outfit isn’t pictured because it’s a big, long parka that is not super photogenic. I say this lovingly, but it’s my mom coat. So, you can guess that I did brave the 10 degree weather to take these photos without a coat, but it was worth it.

The sweater I’m wearing is from Abercrombie and it is one of my ride-or-die sweaters. It’s super soft and warm (I’m not going to pretend that I wasn’t cold during this picture but it really is warm). I actually bought it in an XL when I’m normally a S in Abercrombie. The reason I bought it a few sizes up is because A) it was the only size left and B) when I tried it on, it was the perfect oversized-size. It fits the perfect width and length without having too droopy of a neckline, which is a problem I frequently run into when I size up. The red color that I bought is sold out online, but there is a few other colors and patterns available in the same sweater, so I will link that.

The jeans are the same American Eagle jeans from the last outfit, so I will link the same pair as before. On another note, these over the new boots from BLANK are amazing! They do have a bit of a heel so they are better for date night or a night out than they are for everyday wear, but I still think that they are fun and wearable everyday too! The heel is chunkier so it doesn’t have the same night-out-vibe that the stiletto versions do. I have no slouching or sliding issues with these boots so I give them a 10/10 (based on cuteness, functionality, and wearability).

Outfit #3: All Grey All the Time

Ignoring the horrible wet spot on my boot, this is an outfit that I’ve already worn countless times this season. There is so much to love about it! The simple but sophisticated sweater gets a laid-back vibe from the ripped jeans, and then the pointed ankle boots finish it off. Occasionally I like to switch up the jeans that I wear with it so that no one notices that I’m wearing the same outfit (no one has yet but I’ll keep you updated).

I have a love/hate relationship with this sweater. Hate is a very strong word in this situation – I’d actually call it a love/slightly-not-love relationship. It is very oversized and the way that it is shaped doesn’t pair well with every pair of jeans I own, but somehow works well with the pictured pair. Plus, I’m not sure what it’s made of, but it’s definitely not the softest material in the world. It doesn’t bother me too much so it’s not a deal-breaker, but if you’re not a fan of a slightly-rough material, this might not be the sweater for you.

These jeans are actually from Hollister! I bought them probably three or four years ago, way before frayed hems were a trend, and I was actually so embarrassed of the hem when I bought them that I would fold them under! My use of these jeans has ebbed and flowed but right now they are a staple piece in my wardrobe. I use them to style any top into a laid-back and stylish outfit! Obviously, this particular pair isn’t available but a similar pair will be linked below.

I won’t talk about my boots again but just know that I still love them and they are still my favorite.

And that is my Winter Lookbook! These outfits all feature some of my favorite items and trends at the moment, while still being classic and wearable for years to come. It was so much fun taking these photos and choosing which outfits best represented my style at the moment. It was very cold and changing inside of the car was difficult, but well worth it! A big shoutout to my boyfriend for being my half-willing, but very decent photographer. I enjoyed every second of creating this post for you guys and can’t wait for the future! Like, comment, subscribe to my newsletter, and follow me on Instagram so that you never miss a post! Thanks so much for viewing.
